Accountant Job at Bellaire Travels: Position Overview
The successful candidate will first undergo training and familiarization with the company’s internal procedures in Douala. After the onboarding period, the employee will be deployed to the Yaoundé branch to take on operational accounting and administrative responsibilities.
The position reports directly to the Administrative and Finance Manager based in Douala. A mid-term performance evaluation will take place after three months.
Key Responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the company’s general and analytical accounting records using SAGE. The role also involves collecting, verifying, organizing, and filing accounting documents.
Other responsibilities include managing invoicing and monitoring customer payments, performing bank reconciliations in SAGE, and maintaining both physical and electronic accounting archives.
The successful candidate will also assist with the preparation of financial statements and support internal and external audits. Compliance with internal procedures, OHADA accounting standards, Cameroonian tax regulations, and IATA requirements will be an important part of the role.
Additional duties include conducting fixed asset inventories for the Yaoundé branch, managing routine office purchases, and following up on the payment of utility bills and supplier invoices. The employee will also support administrative activities, including the handling of lease documents, official correspondence, and other administrative formalities.
Requirements for the Accountant Position
Candidates should hold at least a Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
The company is seeking candidates with at least three years of professional experience in an accounting firm or travel agency. Experience in the travel industry is considered an advantage.
Applicants should have good knowledge of OHADA accounting standards and Cameroonian tax regulations. Proficiency in SAGE accounting software and Microsoft Excel is also required.
Knowledge of the IATA environment will be a significant advantage. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, integrity, professionalism, and the ability to work independently.
Employment Conditions
The Accountant Job at Bellaire Travels comes with a six-month probationary employment contract and is classified under job category 7E. A performance evaluation will be conducted after three months.
