We are seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager (BDM) to accelerate our revenue growth, expand our market footprint, and drive strategic client acquisition across Africa and beyond.


Role Summary

As a BDM, you will be the frontline growth architect, responsible for identifying, securing, and expanding high-value business opportunities. You will take ownership of the sales pipeline, client acquisition strategy, and revenue objectives. Your success will directly influence the company’s growth trajectory and market dominance.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Growth & Client Acquisition

  • Develop and implement a robust B2B sales strategy targeting high-priority sectors: FMCG, oil & gas, agriculture, humanitarian, manufacturing, and retail.
  • Identify and engage new prospects via networking, tenders, referrals, and trade missions.
  • Lead the end-to-end sales process: prospecting, pitching, negotiation, and closing deals.
  • Maintain a high-quality sales pipeline with measurable revenue conversion.

Strategic Market Development

  • Research and assess new markets, industry verticals, and partnership opportunities.
  • Identify tender opportunities and prepare winning submissions in collaboration with operations and finance.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies for new logistics services or territories.

Account Management & Growth

  • Manage key accounts to maximize revenue, renewals, and upselling opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure client satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Monitor market trends and client feedback to refine offerings.

Brand Building & Representation

  • Represent the company at industry events, trade expos, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with marketing to generate leads via campaigns, case studies, and PR initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA or sales certifications a plus).
  • 2–3 years of experience in business development or sales in logistics, transport, or supply chain.
  • Proven track record of exceeding B2B sales targets.
  • Strong negotiation, commercial, and closing skills.
  • Knowledge of African trade routes and customs regulations is highly desirable.
  • Fluent in English; French, Portuguese, or Arabic is an advantage.

Compensation Structure – Commission-Based

  • No cap on earnings: Directly tied to your sales performance
  • Suggested structure:
    • Base commission: 5–10% of gross revenue per client
    • Performance bonuses: Quarterly bonuses for exceeding targets
    • Long-term incentives: Revenue growth incentives for key strategic accounts

This structure ensures high-performing BDMs can earn significantly above market averages, while fully owning their pipeline and results.
