Logistics Analyst Job in Douala Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will help improve the recovery of reusable bottles, crates, kegs, containers, and other returnable packaging from customers, collection points, distributors, and transport partners to the Distribution Centre (DC).
Key responsibilities include:
- Tracking empty bottles, crates, kegs, containers, and other returnable packaging throughout the distribution network.
- Reconciling packaging issued, collected, transferred, received, and outstanding by location, customer, distributor, and packaging type.
- Analysing overdue returns, damage, shortages, and unexplained discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintaining dashboards and reports on recovery performance, outstanding balances, and ageing returns.
- Forecasting return volumes and identifying potential packaging shortages or delays.
- Using return volumes, locations, and ageing data to improve collection planning and recovery activities.
- Coordinating with sales teams, distributors, transport teams, and Distribution Centre operations to address return gaps.
- Supporting collection consolidation and delivery backhauls while analysing vehicle utilisation and recovery costs.
- Verifying collection notes, transfer records, and Distribution Centre receipts.
- Working with Finance and Commercial teams to resolve packaging balance differences and assess deposit or incentive schemes.
- Reporting recovery rates, return cycle times, outstanding volumes, ageing, losses, damage rates, and reconciliation accuracy.
- Preparing weekly and monthly performance reports with risks, recommendations, action owners, and deadlines.
- Improving data quality, reporting controls, and standard operating procedures.
- Establishing performance baselines and a dashboard during the first 90 days, with agreed priorities and measurable improvements.
Logistics Analyst Job in Douala Required Qualifications and Profile
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Two to four years of experience in logistics analysis, distribution, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
- Experience with returnable packaging or FMCG distribution is an advantage.
- Advanced Excel skills, with Power BI or similar reporting tools and SQL considered advantages.
