Responsibilities include supervising project teams, supporting planning and monitoring, ensuring programme quality, identifying operational risks and strengthening accountability within humanitarian teams.

The successful candidate will also participate in humanitarian coordination platforms and maintain relationships with government authorities, local partners, international NGOs and United Nations agencies. The position therefore requires strong representation, partnership-building and communication skills.

Who Can Apply?

This is an experienced-level humanitarian position. Candidates should have at least eight years of experience implementing emergency projects, particularly multisectoral or integrated programmes or emergency child-protection programmes.

Applicants must also demonstrate at least five years of professional experience in Cameroon’s Far North Region within a local or international NGO. In addition, at least three years of experience working in refugee and/or internally displaced-person camps is required.

A Bac+5 university degree in a relevant discipline is required. Suitable areas may include humanitarian programme coordination, international humanitarian law, project management, monitoring and evaluation, or social sciences for development.

SOS Villages d’Enfants is also looking for candidates with proven team-management experience, programme design and leadership skills, strong organizational abilities and the capacity to work effectively in a volatile security environment.

Excellent spoken and written French is required, while English is considered an advantage. Familiarity with donor rules, international cooperation policies and standard office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also expected.

Key Responsibilities

The Humanitarian Action Coordinator will oversee humanitarian programmes and support project managers in planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.

The coordinator will also monitor the security context, support risk analysis, contribute to contingency planning and coordinate with relevant humanitarian and security actors.

This makes the opportunity particularly relevant to professionals who have already worked in complex humanitarian environments and understand the operational realities of Cameroon’s Far North.
