Duties and Responsibilities

The U.S. Embassy Political Assistant will conduct research and prepare analysis and reports on political developments affecting Cameroon and U.S. interests.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Researching and reporting on political developments in Cameroon.
  • Drafting cables, speeches and reports on political, human rights and security issues.
  • Contributing to reports such as the International Religious Freedom Report and Country Reports on Terrorism.
  • Monitoring Cameroon’s relationships with the United States, other countries and international organizations.
  • Providing written and verbal briefings to Embassy officials.
  • Preparing meeting materials, talking points and biographical notes.
  • Building and maintaining contacts with government officials, political parties, civil society organizations, security services and other stakeholders.
