Jhpiego is recruiting a Deputy Project Director in Yaoundé, Cameroon to provide strategic, technical, and managerial support for the organization’s public health programs.
The Deputy Project Director will work closely with the Project Director to ensure effective implementation of health projects aligned with Cameroon’s national priorities and international donor requirements.
This senior leadership role requires extensive experience in public health programming, project management, stakeholder coordination, monitoring and evaluation, and donor-funded projects.
Key Responsibilities
The Deputy Project Director will be responsible for:
- Supporting strategic planning and implementation of complex health programs.
- Providing technical guidance to project teams and government partners.
- Developing operational plans, budgets, and performance reports.
- Monitoring project progress and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
- Strengthening health information systems and data management processes.
- Supervising and mentoring technical teams.
- Supporting relationships with the Ministry of Public Health, UN agencies, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Contributing to proposal development and new business opportunities.
- Managing project resources and ensuring effective budget execution.
Required Qualifications

- A Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Program Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Communication, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least 6 years of experience managing large and complex health or development projects.
- Experience working with international public health programs.
- Experience implementing US Government-funded assistance programs is required.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and communication abilities.
- Ability to analyze data and communicate findings effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Experience working in a bilingual environment and knowledge of Cameroon’s health sector will be valuable assets.
